Inter-whactive TV prototype is written in Max/Msp/Jitter software, a graphical environment for music, audio, and multimedia made by Cycling '74
By reconfiguring an old television set, the project attempts to expand a preconception of interactive experience with already familiar interfaces.
There are 5 channels of interactive video clips, controlled by the TV channel dial and the TV antenna. Through a simple knob, users can choose a channel, and then tap on the side of the TV set to play the video loops in different directions. By moving the antenna, users can hear digitally generated noise, select the video frame rate and adjust the quality of the video.
The system is a physical installation made with a TV set from the 1970’s, custom built circuitry including a PIC, a 360 degree continuous turn potentiometer for channel selection, two Piezo sensors to pick up the vibrations of banging and three 10k potentiometers for antenna for digital noise sound and quality selection with the antenna.
Real time video and audio are generated with a Max/Msp/Jitter software.
The values from the potentiometer will transfer into PIC and sent out through a midi interface. An external MIDI interface that is attached to the computer USB port, will take those values and will deliver them to the Max/Msp/Jitter software.

In summary, the prototype will include:

PIC micro-controller : PIC 16F877A from www.microchip.com
Midi interface : USB 2x2 port
Piezo Sensor : 85dB Piezo Buzzer operates on 4-28VDC
Potentiometer : EUP 3225 - 10K ( 350 degree )
